The Canadian Independent Grocery Buyers Alliance and Distribution Canada Inc. (CIGBA/DCI) have appointed the 2024 board of directors.
Gordon Dean, Mike Dean Local Grocer, is chair of the board.
Mike Sharpe, Sharpe’s Food Market, is vice chair.
Adam Powell, Powell’s Supermarket (AGD) is treasurer.
Nigel Oliver, Vince’s Market, is past chair of the board.
The four individuals are also sit on the executive board and the the DCI board of directors. Other new directors appointed for 2024 include Gabriele Torchetti, Lady York Foods; Tarik Zeid, Food Fare; Matthew Rogge, Summerhill Market; Rima Rabba, Rabba Fine Foods; and Ofure Osifo, Supermarchedia.
DCI created the not-for-profit CIGBA in 2019 following a restructuring to explore new growth opportunities. DCI in turn was formed as a buying group for independent grocers in 1981 and today membership includes independent grocers, small grocery chains, wholesalers/distributors, and C-store chains.
