Former Zehrs president Grant Heimpel has passed away. He was 85.
Heimpel started his career in the 1950s, working at Bast Red & White grocery store and the Central Meat Market before joining Zehrs in 1963. He began as an assistant manager and became president of Zehrs in 1985. He retired in 2000.
Heimpel is survived by his wife, Norah, of 58 years, whom he met at Zehrs Markets in Guelph, Ont., as well as his children and grandchildren. Read the full obit here.
